JUSTIN COLT KELLEY & STEPHANIE NICOLE GARGIULo
JUSTIN COLT KELLEY & STEPHANIE NICOLE GARGIULo
COMING SOON! We will get this up at some point 🤣
Ignore the typos- we just typed this up and have not proofed it. Enjoy the draft. On the first date we discussed marriage. Never had Colt or Stephanie done that let alone on a first date. Before they realized the restaurant had closed and they were still chatting on the patio, both of them shared their life story and there was an instant bond. They always knew one day they were gonna walk down and isle together. It was just a matter of what they wanted to accomplish together prior to that next chapter.
They have gotten to experience so many things together! From them both living in peoples basements, living pay check to pay check to unexpectedly renting and paying a mortgage at the same time while randomly and spending all of their savings to survive the beginning of a construction law suit. To rescuing their 6 fur-babies from the local streets at the completely wrong time- life has thrown them some big curve balls. They claim, “We probably striked out more times than not but I believe we hit a home run when we found each other. However, we are so thankful and blessed for how far we have come.”
During the pandemic Colt went after a goal that he always had. Stephanie helped Colt study for his real estate tests. Stephanie soon after started another company. They embraced the typical growing pains of building a solid foundation for their businesses and personal relationships and almost 7 years later they have steadily been growing together.
As many of you know after Colt and Stephanie purchased a home after hunting for 3 years, they signed an agreement and took out a big loan and they started the home building and renovations process. This was a process that they had heard that could either tear you apart or build you closer. They claim they didn’t do it perfectly but it is a part of their love story that made them grow even stronger and appreciate what they have. Money comes and goes. They learned- You can never plan for it to always be there and you can’t wait for everything to be perfect to start something. A foundational mentality they hope to pass along to their future babies.
In the midst of all of this craziness Colts & Hilary ( Stephanie’s Best friend and fellow contestant from Miss Georgia) started planning up an engagement. Being that Hilary live 6 hours away one way Hilary would visit often to create some projects. One weekend it was at Berry Collage. The next was at Barnsley Gardens. Stephanie, didn’t know he was even proposing because Hilary told them she needed them to act out a scene . Well, when Colt started to say the wrong lines that a Hillary cued him, Stephanie grew confused. His line was supposed to be “I am a prince.” Well at that moment some sweet children were yelling “1..2…3 and were playing hide and seek. Stephanie was hot and suggested Colt “Colt just yell over them and he yell, “ I’m the prince!”. Well Colt proceeded to start over and Stephanie was just playing along until she realized Colt had something in his pocket he was trying to get…. (And of course it was stuck). Colt & Stephanie both struggled to get it out and finally a box practically flung out.
The ring Colt pick was special to Stephanie and Colt because it symbolized the promises God has ….. Many of you may know Stephanie’s story with the feathers. If you haven’t heard it - you can read it at https://psalterco.com under “The Psalter Co. Story.” Colt had taken Stephanie to a ring store & the rep flashed a diamond on the screen because it wasn’t in the store. She begin to explain that every diamond has a flaw in it and this diamond has specifically a feather in the diamond. Immediately Stephanie was shocked because and thought Colt told them her story… but he hadn’t. Well later when the ring arrived they both viewed it under a scope and the flaw did in-fact look like a feather. A sweet message of Gods glory.
After the engagement Colt had prepared a dinner at the Barnsley restaurant and rented out a room. Then after Colt surprised Stephanie with a cottage rental. Well due to it being a surprise , Colt had to go home to pack their bags. Stephanie decided to stay back because they had BB ( 16 years old) and Obie Jean ( A tank of explosives). Stephanie took the dogs out to potty and sadly when she bought them in she had left some bag out side for less than 15 minutes. When she came back they were gone. Someone stole all of their engagement cards and gifts and Mementos that they had gathered from the night. The rest of the night was spent on the phone with the police. Not knowing what some of the gifts were it was challenging to make a police report. Once the family confirmed what the gifts were they filed the report. Sadly the next day in the news part of the police report was posted, “ Theft at Barnsley” . Not knowing it was in the news Colt and Stephanie started to get calls and text about our engagement- something that they had not yet made public.
Sadly the thieves got away and Barnsley didn’t do anything. Months later Colt asked if they could at least have something in compensation since they were unable to enjoy what they rented. They gave a free dinner. Quickly Colt and Stephanie remembered Money comes and Goes and while this was very unfortunate there is nothing they can do and that all that matters is that they are safe.
This past few years have been a challenge and without Stephanie’s late mother it hasn’t made this capture any easier. Centering themselves in God and all the good he has done with pulling them out of the trenches is a reminder of the love God and they have for each other.
We have been through a lot the past couple
of years with our home, law suite, loosing loved ones, our health, our families health, work and we just realized we want to make this fun and l
when we started venue shopping we learned of all
the rules! Learning about the various mandatory food expense, type of food, pets, location, back ups, drink laws and so much more we realized we were going to have to compromise a lot.
Venue shopping made it feel very transactional as everything was based around the value of the package we would select. It was quickly becoming all about money rather than what we wanted and making happened even if it meant us doing it ourselves (Which venues hate a good DIY).
We talked about how weddings once we simple where you go to a church and get married and eat after. The simplicity of it was what was special. The focus was all on the couple, God and family - no package, no start time no end time just good ol fun! We want be focusing on the things that make us happy and doing what we want without stepping on anyone’s toes. We get to do all we want. Plus this means no traveling for us. No forgetting items at home. AND We can start setting up days in advance!!
Yes, this is a bit random, but that is just the way we like it! Now, this doesn’t mean we are not gonna have some fun! We love attending weddings at venues - planning on the other hand is just not our thing. We are turning our back yard into a site.
